Wow, this place gets busy! We came on a Friday evening and were extremely lucky to get some bar seating. There was a line out the door by the time we left and I'm sure no reservations available. It was nice to see such interest in a rather unique culinary concept. There's a parking lot in the back, though it may fill up when super busy. The menu has many Vietnamese staples and other southeast Asian hits, and seems very authentic. We started with the chive cakes, which were something new for me but I really enjoyed them. For my entree, I got the Hanoi sticky rice bowl. I probably didn't need the appetizer as this was actually quite a bit of food! Everything had a lot of flavor and the various components of the bowl worked really well together. I wish there was more of a sauce, as it was slightly dry (especially with the pork floss), but that would be my only criticism. The cocktails are also unique and tasty (and very strong, I think). Probably don't need more than a couple of those... I'd come back here for sure when in the area, though I might be sure to book a reservation or come outside of peak days/times.

The food was amazing (but spicy!) the service was amazing, very attentive. It was so much fun to be outside in the summer breeze in Minnesota. And as an update from my Covid review: no 20% surcharge.

My friend and I hadn't been able to hang out together for far too long. We decided to try Hai Hai since neither of us had been there. We were able to park in the parking lot, walk in and get seated right away. I knew it looked cute from the photos I saw online but it exceeded my expectations. Our waiter was very tentative and helpful. We ordered a couple of drinks, shrimp toast, Balinese Chicken Thigh and Beef Rendang. Unfortunately we were too full for dessert.

My sister heard about this place through Reddit of all places and I am so happy she did! We got the fern cakes, coconut shrimp toast, brussel sprouts, and beef rendang. I still dream about the shrimp toast - it was the perfect balance of flavors and I loved the heat! The beef redang was good as were the Brussel sprouts - they went well together. We weren't too crazy about the fern cakes but I think it was a texture thing for us - it was a too grainy on the outside for us. However if you managed to get everything in one bite, all the elements go really well together!
